GOODBYEHOME

Chicago, IL

about +
It takes timing, dedication and hard work to realize a dream. The biggest ideas take both Time and Sacrifice. Mountains must be moved stone by stone. It takes dedication and hard work to fully achieve a dream, Sometimes you have to say Goodbye to everything you ever called home to finally find yourself where you want to be.

So begins the story of Goodbyehome, founded by fast friends Greg Jackson Combs(Guitar,Vox) and Jeff Brown(Guitar,Vox) both had said goodbye to there respective homes, who after realizing an immediate musical chemistry decided to form a band using inspiration from Chicago's thriving and eclectic Coffee House and Open mic scene. In the following months they recruited Christine Knodle(Violin,Vox) while soon after trying different variations of members Michael Narvaez(Bass) and Jim Lordiman(Drums) joined the group to fulfill the lineup. Soon after the band had taken the nation by quiet storm, performing at venues like The Basement in Nashville Tennessee, The Lakeshore Theater, Double Door, Schubas and Martyr's in Chicago. In one short back breaking year, the band has established itself as a powerhouse not only in Chicago but across the small towns huddled in middle America.

Months later, GBH teamed with Chicago producer Ellis Clark to record there twelve song debut The Troubles. The Album songs range from upbeat alternative country to instrumentally lush melodramatic rock ballads,The songs move humbly across the human emotional spectrum as its musical canvas is painted with colors of smoky guitars, piano, strings, accordion, mandolin, banjo, harmonica, Wurlitzer, Hammond organ and even trumpet. Modern music with a Vintage feel, the melodies soar as its members offer a virtual Pandora's box that exists somewhere between the wedding of all things sonic and visceral. With a Smoky and intimate vocal style that works its way into the ear peacefully and Passionately, Combs vocals are pitched somewhere midway between seminal influences like Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley, Van Morrison and Neil Young, While Brown and Knodle carefully wrap there harmonies and melodies around the stories and melodies that are weaved by its power of song.

The Troubles will be available this Fall 2009 on itunes, CDBaby and at Goodbyehomemusic.com. The Troubles will also be released in Limited Edition Vinyl. This December the band will join five time Grammy winner Bela Fleck & the flecktones for the 2nd annual Chicago Blues and Bluegrass festival. Stay tuned to see the next chapter in the Goodbyehome story.
