Biography

A lost and found box for love, grinConvention's music combines longing, wistful melodies with unique pop progressions and beats.

A dichotomy of sweetness and sorrow form the 12 songs on gC's demo album 'No In No Out'. The melancholy is tangible in "Such a Price" and "The World is a Movie Screen", leaving you hopeful and forlorn all at once. "The Vitamin Shoppe" is a snapshot of self-loathing, unrequited love, while "When Did You Get So Small" and "All These Games" highlight grinConvention's modern-pop sensibility. Thank you for your music, you are very talented. It reminds me of Boston on a cold autumn morning..

Short plane ride or a day and a half drive (I'm in NorCal), but I was in Seattle last month and don't think I can swing another trip north so soon. :(

They changed the way artists are ranked, thus your level change. There's a discussion on the "announcements" forum about it. Some artists' ranks went up, others down.

Also, sam said there was a bug in the email that went out saying how many songs an artist can have. Here's a quote from him (from "feature requests" forum):

"Re: Dire need for "artist uploads per level" in... | 05 mar 08 3:54 p.m.

"The formula is number of songs = 2 + every artist level. There was a bug in the level up e-mail that reported the number of songs uploadable to be two less than the actual limit."

I think some artists who got that email found they could upload a track when they went to try, even though the mail said they were maxed.

Not sure how things stand after the change to artists' leaderboard. I asked if the formula is still the same but have not seen a reply yet.

Wish I could be in Vancouver in May!

Hi Kari - saw your comments on RM's wall and am looking forward to new music! Just wanted to say that you shouldn't be maxed out right now: at level 9 you should be able to have 11 songs up.

Sounds like you are working hard to get the new tracks just right. Can't wait! :)

I can't wait to hear more music, but as it's not going anywhere I've decided to spend a week just being in love with Your Name like in the olden days when you heard the first single by a new band on the radio.

What level do you need to be able to upload more?

RitualMuse (level 15) wrote:

Id love to see you make them downloadable but maybe you should make sure they are 128 instead of something in uber nice quality. Leaves a little incentive for listeners to buy them later while still showing tons of love for them:)

Did leveling up to 6 give you a new upload slot? I know that a few artists have mentioned that 5 didnt let them upload a new song because the new system is counting the back catalog of tunes.. I dont know if it was always like that or not though.

Anyways totally & extremely excited to hear the new songs.. and thanks again for the myspace thing ;-)
