GUMBO

London, United Kingdom

about +
Gumbo is producer/engineer Matt Sime and musician Rick Barber, owners of Crypt Studios London.

Gumbo began as a way for Matt Sime to try out his mpc beats and he called on the only musician as unemployed as him to help. It started with an mpc3000, an acoustic guitar and a four track in a bedroom in Kensal Rise and has now progressed to the Crypt Studios.

Some of these tracks were recorded on half inch tape before they got computers and upgraded. Neither Matt or Rick can sing very well so they began to draft in singers to finish off their creations. Carrie Rossiter (The Dacoits, www.myspace.com/thedacoits) was first into the breach writing 'Dumbstruck'. Stephen Macarthy followed penning the sublime strongroom heist tale of 'No One Dies'.

Matthew Neel (www.myspace.com/matthewneelpage) was discovered wandering the lonely outer reaches of myspace and came in to sing on 'Box Clever' and since then asked Gumbo to produce 'Gravity is the Hardest Thing' and the still to be finished 'Six Billion'. Matt has since recorded his debut album and Rick layed down some low end.

There are no immediate release dates for Gumbo and no live gigs booked. But they are always looking for singers to complete the backing tracks. Who know's what might happen next?
