Influenced by American singer/songwriters like John Mayer, Howie Day and Ryan Adams, Dutch singer/songwriter Haye traded his traditional rock kit for the acoustic guitar style.
“Somewhere down the line I got attracted by the vulnerability of the acoustic guitar, the instrument is so versatile.”
With the trade-off Haye said goodbye to playing in a band and started anew, this time going solo. “Going solo brought me challenges as well as freedom. The challenge is to write everything yourself, so that means composing songs from scratch and make all of them interesting in their own way. The freedom basically comes down to not wanting to be attached to time: I do these things at my own pace however long it takes. I’m in no rush at all doing this, it’s supposed to be fun!”
Haye, who's name is derived from La Haye, treats his listeners with a melancholic perception on music. The songs are based on his experiences in life and are composed out of a diverse interest in musical instruments and artists.
