Does anybody else worry about the scary progress of technology? X-ray scanners in the airport, artificial intelligence robots in each home… Sounds great when you’re getting a hand with the housework – not so great if you wake up at 3 in the morning to see the wife being probed by C3PO.

One pair who aren’t afraid of technology are Manchester duo Hot Beat Repeat; formed in the spring of 2011, they use innovation, drums, guitar, a loop pedal and sheer talent to make the kind of sound you don’t hear everyday. After the dancing is over at their gigs it isn’t unusual to hear someone ask, ‘How do they do that?’ It’s fair to say they show the possibilities of man and machine... Let’s just hope the wife doesn’t feel the same.
