Innes Wilson and his Opposition are " a trio of fuzz-folk yokels" cfru 93.3fm.
Bright acoustic guitars, fuzzed-out basses, rich vocal harmonies and endless hooks account for the overall grunge-pop sound that lends hommage to early '90's east coast and '60's psych-pop.
Innes Wilson has long been apart of the Guelph music scene most recently as a member of The Tacoma Hellfarm Tragedy. Having left the farm to pursue his own inner musings, it was only fitting that to bring songs to life with the help of dear friends and founders of indie-cult collective Out of Sound Records Adam Sturgeon and Blake Stevenson. Blake happens to be brother of Tacoma hellfarm Tragedy drummer Darryl Stevenson.
Rather than focusing attention on the pressures of making a record the band adopted the attitude of honing their live performances and working on demos endlessly in their dining room studio. Forming impromptu for an appearance at the Go Music Festival with Will Currie and the Country French, the band has since toured Ontario and Eastern Canada with some of their favourite peers: Shotgun Jimmie, BA Johnston, Share, Octoberman, Sleepless Nights, Hey Rosetta, The Diableros, Julie Doiron, Shotgun and Jaybird, Timbre Timber, Forest City Lovers and the Kettleblack.
Gaining much praise and confidence having leaked a demo ep at the Halifax Pop Explosion to Socan reps and members of the Canadian Songwriters Association, blog rolls and college chart appearances have sprung up sporadically before any formal "promotional" tactics were taken by the band. Early comparisons to Wintersleep, Blue Rodeo and The Inbreds have only encouraged the band further.
It is a beautiful thing when a group of great friends, roommates, brothers (and that certainly is the Opposition) take it upon themselves to hold each other accountable and have as much fun they can in the process.
