Those songs on my profile totally deserve another listen, and maybe a few bumps. :)

i haven't taken a closer listen to tvotr yet, but i'll definitely check out the video when i get the chance. and based on the concerts my brother has gone to, he's seen ladytron twice and death cab once and we share pretty similar taste in music. don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

of course not.

i was half-joking, looking at your 3239 point count. :-)

you can't be serious on the points.

right you are. an hour south of los angeles. i know adele's been around in the states for at least a couple months now, i just never really took a close listen. same goes with new buffalo.

btw, looks like you've been bumping up quite a storm these days! anyway, glad you're giving some dance tracks more lovin'

AnnieB (level 21) wrote:

just wanted to share that i heard adele's "cold shoulder" on the radio today, followed by m83's "couleurs" -- not bad for radio, i must say...then again, it's not a mainstream station either. anyway, just thought it was pretty coincidental with the recs you sent. :-)

i absolutely love "monster" - one of my favorite first bumps! oh, and my playlist is utterly a mess. haven't really had a chance to tidy up...there's just so many songs and i don't know how to categorize them anymore. that, and i'd need to make time to sift through a gazillion songs. but yes, handclapping = fun!

and thanks for stopping by to leave a comment, i always appreciate it, especially since you were one of the earlier listeners here. hope all is going well with you and i'm definitely up for music suggestions non61-related, given you have a good sense of what i like ;-)

Hey
It's been a long while since I''Ive been on here, but wanted to let some of my best supporters know I'm putting up another song shortly.

I don't know how to notify everyone other then just hit a few up like this. since you know all of them, maybe you know how?
anyways thanks!!

The Funeral is an awesome song, huh?

PS: I know you liked "Big Mistake", but as my lowest-point song I nixed it in favour of something a little more different and interesting. I hope you like the replacement!

I might work on a re-record of BM for when I get to level 3.

It's actually very nice to get such a thorough "layman" perspective on these things. All of what you've said makes sense and I shall definitely take it on board for future recordings. Thanks!

Hi! Concerning swedish/nordic female singers it depends a bit on your musical tastes, as I can't tell you much about electronic music, although most have here and there been part of a cooperation or remix. I'd say that the top nordic female singer/songwriter's, at least my favorites, are Anna Ternheim and Ane Brun. Last year I've been on 2 Ternheim gigs in Vienna, and both times I fell in love with her, honestly ^^
Then there's Nina Kinert, who also does a bit of Electro, but has a dreamy voice as well. I'd also recommend Pauline Nilsson, she has a different kind of voice, but maybe that's why she fascinates me.
Extremely interesting from an Indie point of view are the Band Small Flowers Crack Concrete with lead singer Erika Rosén. She does some brilliant solo stuff as well, you can check out everything I'm writing on Myspace.
As mentioned in the TTA comment there's Kemopetrol's lead singer Laura Närhi. Kemopetrol has done good catchy pop lately, but their early albums contain some great electropop as well, you might want to check that out.
Victoria Bergsman is great, but as she left The Concretes the band still does good stuff with mostly Lisa Milberg singing. Frida Hyvonen is one great talent as well...
Oh, I think I can go on for a while, but I think there's a few things for you to check out already :D
If more extremely important brilliant stuff comes to my mind I will tell you, especially if it's a bit electronic.
Cheers,
Julian

my goodness! either you're a mind reader or you've got impeccable tastes! those three songs are part of my ABSOLUTE top songs i love right now. glad i can keep you somewhat updated. i'll try to vary it up a bit once some really good songs start coming in. thanks for listening and happy new year to you too. oh, and contrary to belief, i must go to sleep as well :-)

Oh, and yes, the "You know" was intentionally distorted. xD

Thanks for your comments! I'm always looking for ways to improve.

The songs Big Mistake and What Do You See are both considerably older than the other two and showcase some bad production habits I used to have - two of which being overcompression of everything and too much reverb on the vocals. The most recent track is Time, recorded last month. Hopefully there'sa noticeable improvement there - I try to keep reverb more subtle than I once did unless I'm going for a more atmospheric feel - I did start out as an ambient instrumentals musician, so there's always that instinct to fight, heh.

Thanks again for the comments!

Thanks for the bump!

I'm currently in Calgary, though I have to go back for a while in MArch, then provided all goes well I shall return with a resident card.

My setup is a Line 6 PODxt into FL Studio, and a Zoom PS-04 with a nifty little condenser mic built in through which I record my vocals.
