Frenemies is the music of songwriter/producer Chris Freeland. Chris founded the band Oxes with two friends in the summer of 1999. Since then he has collaborated with Will Oldham, Cass McCombs, Dave Pajo, filmmaker David Lynch, and Beach House.
Frenemies sound is built on a desire to combine the chords and vocals of traditional verse/chorus melodic songwriting (Paul Simon, Beatles, Jesus and Mary Chain) with the rhythm section of punk, dance, and rap (Madonna, Dr. Dre, Neptunes, the Clash).
Frenemies second album, "Birds in High School" was released digitally last year to Itunes music store, Emusic, and the other ones. The band plans to spend 2008 touring and attracting label attention.
All Frenemies concerts double as book exchanges, so if you are going to a Frenemies show, please bring a book to swap.
