JENNA EARLE

Vancouver, BC

about +
Jenna Earle has a songwriting sense that catches your ears and won't let go. Her Mastery of slide guitar and open tuning techniques combined with her soaring vocals will win over even the hardest of music critic. Jenna's music was born out of a desolate mountain range in B.C. and manipulated by the busy, city streets of Toronto.

Jenna began her life on the road (her mom gave birth to her while traveling), and has continued to live the gypsy lifestyle to this day. She was raised “off the grid”, on a farm devoid of electricity and running water. Jenna's childhood consisted of one-room school houses, bohemian parties and entertaining herself by listening to her parents and their friends play blues and flamenco music.

When Jenna was 9, her family re-located to Toronto and lived with her grandparents. Her Grandpa, Eddie Graf, was a well known and talented arranger, composer, and musician, and traces of his influence can be found in Jenna's songs, in her love of using different instruments to create a variety or textures and moods. Around this time, her Mom began taking her to Jazz clubs downtown, and in these smokey rooms, in the late hours of the night, Jenna got to experience soulful, vibrant music first hand. She sang at some of these clubs occasionally.

At the age of 11, Jenna appeared as a back up singer on Lenny Graf's “Planet Lenny” c.d. Which was nominated for a Juno award. She spent her teenage years writing songs, playing guitar and singing in several bands.

When Jenna was 21 she earned a diploma in music composition, majoring in guitar at Selkirk College, in Nelson, B.C.
Jenna is now in Vancouver, and is just about to release her first E.P.!
