Kick Ptarmigan was formed in the summer of 2007 when singer/songwriter/other things MArtin Jenkins returned from Guyana angsty and with an awesome idea for a band name. There's a story behind it. He teamed up with fellow songwriter and bass player Duncan Bell to screw around playing music outside of the genres they had become accustomed to. Kick Ptarmigan still has a fluid and changing sound, but the style has been dubbed folk so that's what we'll go with. They play public shows as often as they can find the opportunity, a new favourite being the Ranch open mic nights every wednesday in Parry Sound. Sometimes our public places to play happen to be empty rooms, but that doesn't discourage them. I am making myself sound ridiculous here...
