Living Machine is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Elijah Shepard. The result might best be described as “NEO-INDIE” or "NEO-GOTHIC" music. Full of haunting and dark melodies, lyrics drenched with sarcasm and double-meaning, it is hard to escape the realization that the music is a highly cathartic outlet for the artist. With so many layers of sound poured into every byte, the effect is quite epic and infectious. The song arrangements and instrumentation veer from the formulaic trappings of pop music, Much of the music is highly cinematic, blending orchestral elements and electronica akin to modern-day film scores. All of this makes more sense when you realize that the artist is performing all the instruments and is solely responsible for the writing, production and mixing of the music.
