Biography

Website : www.deadplant155.com

Loren Radis (that's me) is a California based singer/songwriter heavily influenced by the likes of Simon & Garfunkel, Iron & Wine, Damien Rice, and Elliot Smith.
I've been playing guitar since I was twelve and singing since I could talk, but only since my first girlfriend left me in November of '06 has writing and performing music become a more serious pursuit.
Music has helped me through a few really hard times in my life and if I can do the same for other people then I'll feel like I'm doing somethin... (+) expand

Just walk away, Renee
You won’t see me follow you back home

that’s the key to the anger in this song
it doesn’t say goodbye and good luck

it says do what you gotta do
trash it
in spite of all we had
I won’t come crawling after you

the sign that pointed “one way”
still does for him
he can’t change that direction
like she did
and he wants her to know
that he did not change his commitment

It’s the kind of sorrow that must have anger
and at the same time he’s trying to preserve the goodness
of the person once loved

so it’s an inner conflict
of tenderness, sorrow, pride, and anger
granted, that is not easy to achieve
but don’t go too soft on this song

no matter who is to blame
even if a loved one has died
you feel some anger over that

you can let Renee off the hook
for the sake of loving her
but you have to get the feeling
that she really is to blame

you have a great voice

I was not joking :) but I guess I won't be able to make it to SFBay until spring 2009 -->> leaves me enough time to rehearse the 9 Crimes haha :)

just garageband! i don't actually play any instruments (except piano a little) so i use all electronic instruments. i'm hoping in the future to collaborate with more musicians to get some real live music in my songs!

and thanks for the bumps!

Mega Upload Party Wakers: Two Things for artists...

1. To double check the current Pacific time (and date), just post to a Wall and check the time tag under your name.
2. There will be two ways listeners will find your upload. One will be the normal Browse>activity search, and the other will be thru links to band pages listed on my wall and myktoronto's. Please put your upload in the TOP POSITION of your featured 3-songs, so it can be found quickly.
Thanks and enjoy the bumps...

Yep give it a few minutes, as the first upload is one of Michaels songs. I've scheduled the 61 artists throughout the hour, but it will be approximate due to server, connection and file variables. Thanks for coming and enjoy!

Sure, join the party! I'll add you to the "late adds" with a few others . You can upload at any time within the hour. I'm not sure where in the world you are, so just check a wall post for the current Pacific Time date and time. It starts about 10 hours from now ..

I do understand where you are coming from. It seems like in Church now-a-days I'm writing down questions that I have about the sermon instead of notes on the sermon. I do think that is good though, God never expects us to sit idly by just accepting what others tell us is true. Our emotions (soul) is very powerful, all my poetry seems to go in back and forth; good and bad days. lol. They are mostly to God though, things and people change too much in my life to be dependent on anything else. People have a hard time loving unconditionally like God does. Your songs are wonderful though, and if they are about your girlfriend she is very lucky.

Mega Upload Party Wake for Michael Paul Miller on May 8th. Time or times TBA.

ANY 61 artist who wishes to join in should give KosmikRay
a Wall post with your Band Name and Song Title. Note: This is an UPLOAD Party, so your song must NOT yet be in the 61 system!

60 artists so far and here's hope to a round 100 artists total.

Ah, well in that case it's best you keep it between the two of you. I've written poetry for my boyfriend as well, but have never shown it to anyone else. I'm not sure it would be as special if I did. I hope you let me know what you think of John Donne, he by far is my favorite and his history is pretty neat. Well i'll say second favorite Jane Austen takes the cake when it comes to literature. Have you ever thought about writing Christian songs at all, I know they don't appeal to as wide of an audience, I was just wondering if any of your lyrics are meant for that sort of a thing. That type of 3d art isn't boring at all, i find it all interesting, although i think the idea of the finished product amuses me more than the process. I think i will stick to my books for now lol.

If you aren't afraid you should show me the poem sometime lol. I try my hand at times with poetry, and as a teen I would fill books and books with my thoughts in poetry form. If you ever have the time you should read John Donne, I don't know if you are a Christian or not, but his poetry is very powerful and helped me when I got stuck sometimes. I've always loved the 3d animation in movies, is that what you do exactly?

Hm, poetry can be hard sometimes, well lyrics. I'm an English major and I envy those who can write poetry easily. I just get to read it and comment, I've tried writing lyrics before because I used to play the guitar but I sort of gave up on it. Your job sounds pretty neat, how did you get into something like that? I'm a nanny right now which doesn't take much skill, but it does help pay my way through college. haha, it seems i have taken up your wall almost =).

anbeter (level 3) wrote:

I guess I did mean changing the world in a way. I suppose we are both passionate about different aspects of the music. Like Bright eyes, the music only makes sense when you understand the lyrics. I believe you like the music to make the lyrics make sense... (correct me if I'm wrong). They both are important ways of approaching music of course. Haha i thought you were being too polite at first and it was your way of letting me know you appreciate me saying i enjoy your music but to stop lol.

Hm 23, I have a friend that age who feels like he doesn't have enough time either. You seem to have a pretty big following already though, i'm sure it is only a matter of time until things become "bigger". What are you wanting from all of this though? (if that is too personal a question you don't have to answer of course).

anbeter (level 3) wrote:

Actually, Robert Frost is a bit dark haha, I've always loved Tennyson, Donne, and Herbert. I'm sure you aren't stupid, I'm an English major and it takes tons of work and time for me to get it sometimes. Analyzing everything poetic is a habit now, even when it comes to songs. I suppose poetry set to music is the ultimate form of satisfaction now =) Music plus poetry all in one? How could anyone resist? lol So are you having to work your way through college? Or is this just a job right now? I'm sorry i haven't a clue how old you are.

News

Well, there's still lots of details to hammer out, but I'm going to start planning my first tour. It's pretty terrifying, but it should be a lot of fun, and it's the next step, I've gotta take it sometime, right?

After I finish the cd and get it mass produced and put together a sound system, the only obstacle will be actually finding venues in other towns to let me play, and that's where you guys come in!

I'm hoping that if anyone on the central coast (you know, like from san fran down to hollywood maybe?) knows of anywhere that has live music in your town, maybe you could hit me up with their name or phone number? I have no idea how I would find them any other way, so your help would be so very appreciated, you have no idea!

Well, thanks, and I'll keep you guys updated as there's news to report.

Thanks as always for the incredible support, and just for listening :)
