Word-of-mouth has been Maggie Walters’ best friend since she settled in Austin, Texas with little more than a guitar and an acoustic demo she’d recorded in the bathroom of a dilapidated Chicago apartment.
Elegant and challenging, the arrival of her self-released self-titled debut was met with a four-star Austin American-Statesman review, KGSR radioplay, and a sold-out Cactus Café release party.
With multi-platinum selling co-producer Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers, Sublime), Walters has made two more albums- 2008's Midwestern Hurricane and the forthcoming follow-up. Midwestern Hurricane earned Walters some of the best reviews of her career and earned her television placements within programs on NBC, CNBC and in AMC Movie theatres nationwide. Walters' songs have been featured regularly on both KGSR and KUT and she has been featured nationally on The Bob Edwards Show and XM Radio's Radar Report. Editor’s pick on download.com, featured in Mix Magazine and was chosen as one of Music Connection Magazine’s Top 100 Artists.
Walters' new record will be in-stores later in 2011. An Austin record-release party and national tour will follow.
