We are two musicians, each dedicated to his own craft. Damian "Monsoon Brown" Siwek shreds on the guitar in a style influenced by Metal and Blues, and he has most often been compared to Slash. But could Monsoon go toe-to-toe with the king of riff rock? Well, few really could, but he would certainly hold his own.
Ben "Snowmance" Skolnik programs a sickening degree of complexity into his music production, and has most often been compared to Massive Attack. But can Snowmance deliver the depth and sophistication of the kings of sonic saturation? Well, not many could, but he would challenge the duo and fight dirty.
We first came together in Los Angeles in 2001, meeting through Damian's brother Darius. At the time, Ben was working for a hip hop label and Damian was managing bands and touring with national acts. For years we talked about collaborating. But one fateful night, as we celebrated Ben's coming of age at an eminent LA gentlemen's club, a haunting guitar lick drifted into Damian's head. This became the basis of "Foreplay One".
Damian's history as a touring lead guitarist has taken him across the nation, rocking the stage with his former bands Preferred Villain and Black Camel Division. He has seen many a mosh pit shove and many a panty flung onstage.
Ben has toured the club circuit as a DJ and produced hip hop shows in the LA underground, but spends most of his time tweaking knobs and polishing his sound through software. Think that's not true musicianship? Ben is also a multi-instrumentalist, so knock it off.
The outcome of this mash-up is a blend of music that stays true to its diverse musical roots and hits you with a surprise around every corner. There is something refined about our music, if we do say so ourselves. An aura of 'kindly brace yourself for a sonic face-slap' baked into each lick. We do not cater to the lowest of brows. We celebrate the evolution of Neanderthal into modern Man, scoff at the status quo, and revel in the process of creating new sounds.
