You just don't hear quality blues very often. Very nice. Can you just follow me around when I'm barhopping and play wherever I go?

Ahhhh, now I get it, and a map popped up, so it was odd - sorry, I was just thinking of your dad, and you all. I do remember reading that comment, yeah...What really sticks out in my mind is the last contest (?) I think that the band got back together (or not, I don't remember) and played - As I recall, that recognition was a really special moment in your dad's life...smiles.

The pearly gates gig was a reference to a comment KosmikRay said earlier, which I notice now has been removed. Luckily, I took screenshots of the site when it was still there. KosmikRay said, "If St. Peter doesn't let Michael through the pearly stage door gates, it is only because he keeps asking for another song..."

There is only one original Blue Stew member left, the others moved away, and since Mike was the main songwriter and singer of those songs, it will hard to keep the band going as-is, but I'm sure the same group of guys will always be playing, if under a different name or not, for, as you say, the love of music.

No matter what happens, I will always do my part to promote the music that Michael devoted his life for, so that it may be heard by people who find it inspiring, such as yourselves.

Okay, Is the band playing at "Pearly Gates" - I don't think that MPM thought that way but, yeah, it's cute. Your dad was a real lover, Justin - hoping that you and the band continues to play on - even if it's simply for the love of music...btw, do you think that that Mikey has taken to the harp, well...maybe - smiles.

Thanks Justin...About a year ago I had an opportunity to visit the area, another Great Blues Performer who's time here was far too short...visit the area's where he performed, and possibly visit with a remaining family member or two from that great wonderful time...However, Life had other plans for me...things just happen how they happen. It would have been an honor to visit those places, it's very cool that Your Dad and yourself could dothat together, ..those Memories are PRICELESS, even better than Visa, HAA Big Love Justin :) DAMN Good Song and thanks again for sharing with us...

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments! Here's a special treat just for you:

Does anyone know where this is?

If you guessed thesixtyone, you're correct! Mike and I took a road trip a few years ago from California to Memphis and then down the 61 to Baton Rouge and New Orleans (pre-Katrina). Pictured here is Mike at the Dockery Plantation -- where delta blues was born. Home to such greats as Charlie Patton, Robert Johnson and Howlin' Wolf.

Mike wrote a few songs inspired by this road trip, which were recorded for the appropriately titled "Headed South" album. I've uploaded one of them today, called "Blues for the Bearcat." I think it's a fitting song for this site. So, get ready to sit back for 6 minutes and get a soulful history lesson about the blues.

Justin, it's quite moving to me, the way you keep supporting the Community, all in your dads Amazing Name. I find his music to have a spiritual uplift in some the sadness of the chords, which of course, is why i love LOVE love Blues and after JUST getting toknow him on 61 it seems the BIG GUY in the sky had other plans...
Many Blessings to you and your family...and it's all in the Name and the Love of the Music, he lives :)
