Allaidh Modhan are a fresh new talent described as the most exhilarating prospect so far to emerge from the exciting modern Celtic music scene in Scotland. With a name that translates approximately as “the wild sound of music”, they have been classified as ‘funk-rock’, ‘Celtic-funk’ and are currently stocked under ‘folk/traditional/world’ in various retail outlets across the country. I'm obviously late catching up with your tunes on t61, but they are great. "The Astonishing Flying Ring" showsthat there's still plenty of fresh blood in the veins of trad, and the jazz guitar chording and tin whistle of "Pringle Avenue" are a real surprise (not to mention the further instrumental embellishments that follow). I'll do my bit to encourage folks to give these a listen.
