My earliest memories are of sunny warm days among the orange and lemon trees surrounding my oceanfront home. The salt breeze mingled with the perfume of citrus and madrone, and the sounds of Segovia's guitar on those old 78 rpms gave me my first taste of what one could do with a guitar.
Listening to maestros -- Segovia. Montoya and Sabicas -- gave direction to my technique on the guitar. My composing technique is a result of trial and error, of listening to the guitar sing my thoughts. If the guitar likes a thought, she'll sing it beautifully.
