when I was young and "on the make," I wrote a lot of songs for the women in my life. Then I got married and stopped writing (my wife and I don't share musical tastes).

Now that I'm performing again, I've found that I can sometimes write about what's going on with me . . . and doing so is really fulfilling and helpful. I'm happy to be able to make songs out of the stuff, though now for different motives than previously.

Thanks for encouraging me. We all need a pat on the rump from time to time to remind us that we're not merely singing in a padded room.
