NERVOUS NEAL SMITH

Queens, NY

about +
After working as a freelance saxophonist in the Iowa/Illinois Quad City area for over 20 years, I may be best remembered as the saxophonist for the defunct klez-punk quartet known as The Kabalas. Some other career highlights include live performances with Dizzy Gillespie, Bernard Allison, Louie Bellson, Buddy DeFranco, Clark Terry, Alex Chilton & The Box Tops, The Temptations, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, The Marvellettes, Garrett Morris from the original "Saturday Night Live" cast, and Chuck Loeb. I've appeared on recordings with The Parish Festival, Einstein's Sister, Vitor Cunha, and three full-length CDs with The Kabalas. I had an on-screen appearance in the film "Bix: An Interpretation of a Legend", and my sax has been heard in the films "Minimum Wage" and "Elliot Ness: An Untouchable Life" as well as a few dozen TV commercials.
