Born and raised in the ghettos of Havana (Cuba), Norlan is known in his country and around the world as a Cuban hip hop music pioneer who is not afraid of testing limits. He is called Norlan “El Misionario” by fans and music professionals. Since the first official Cuban Hip Hop Festival in 1997, Norlan has been invited back each year as a special guest artist, sharing the stage with big stars such as Mos-Def, The Roots, and Common.
In 2005, Norlan started his solo career in Finland and released his solo debut album “El Misionario” in 2007. In 2008, Norlan won the title of Best Band at the Ourvision Song Contest in Helsinki and, soon after, signed a record deal with Comrade Publishing. Norlan has just launched his first single, “Sauna Caliente (Anna mulle löylyä),” from the up-coming second album titled “El Bombaso” which will be released in August 2008. Norlan has also introduced two new Latin Clubs in Finland which have been much-hyped nation-wide: CUL! Club Urban Latino & Club Sauna Caliente.
