NO SECOND TROY

The District, DC, VA, VA

about +
In their four short years together, No Second Troy has carved a determined and inspiring path from obscurity to national recognition. Frequent feature spots on ESPN, the WB web series 'The Lake' and TMZ.com have all solidified the band's mass appeal, while critical acclaim from SPIN.com, the CMJ music charts and the Village Voice secures the group's indie support. It's a fine line to ride, but the band makes no excuses in trying to blend the pop hooks of bands like Radiohead, Kings of Leon and Coldplay with the unique indie-rock arrangements of acts like Death Cab for Cutie, Arcade Fire and Stars. Reaching across the lines, mixing the sounds in a way that is familiar but fresh allows No Second Troy to fit comfortably in most musical settings. The band has played opening shows for acts as diverse as Coldplay, Pete Yorn and Everclear.

In the spring of 2006, the band’s self-produced EP caught the attention of noted producer Ted Comerford (Army of Me, The Alternate Routes, Virginia Coalition) and the guys worked over the summer and into the fall to complete 'Narcotic,' their first full-length album. Mixers Jeff Juliano (John Mayer, Jason Mraz, David Gray), Mike Plotnikoff (My Chemical Romance, All American Rejects, the Cranberries) and Paul David Hager (Goo Goo Dolls) contributed to the final product and the CD was released in May 2007. In an early album review, The Washington Post called the songs on Narcotic "as ready for primetime as you will ever hear" and the tracks were quickly added into full rotation on XM Radio. The band spent two weeks on the CMJ Top 200 charts and played shows to packed houses along the East Coast, including the 9:30 Club in Washington DC, the Ram's Head Tavern in Annapolis and the Knitting Factory Main Stage in New York.

The band is currently gearing up to release their second full-length record sometime in early 2010. This time around, however, the group took a different approach working with Chad Clark (Dismemberment Plan, Yoko Ono, Fugazi) and TJ Lipple (Georgie James, Aloha) at Inner Ear Studios in Arlington, VA. They are previewing the new album with dates this fall and into the winter.
