Olivemoon is a folk-rock group, started the summer of 2007 in Barcelona. The founders are de multifaceted Marc Navarro (vocals, guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukelele, didgeridos and harmonica) and Jona Oliva (bass, percussion, glockenspiel and backing vocals). This formation has gained new members during the years and are now a five-member band.
The year 2008 Ignasi Canals (drums, percussion, melodica and backing vocals) joined the band. One year later Kim Peratt (guitar, piano, melodica and keyboards), former member of swedish group Corner of my mind's eye also joined the group. The latest member of Olivemoon is the violist Laura Resina, who has a classical background and is known for her collaborations with the Catalan groups Manel, The Seihos and Bulma.
Their debut EP is called The Thickest Forest, with which Olivemoon creates a folk filled with nuances, which often escapes from the conventional sounds of the genre. Experimenting with, slides, melodicas, didgeridos, banjos, ukeleles… an endless list of instruments are used to create this original protect, who's roots invites us to dream, to journey and to free our minds.
