Cody Clinton and The Bishops

Remember the Tulsa sound? Cody Clinton does. The difference? Cody hasn't necessarily adhered to the Roots Rock explosion that happened in this Midwest city during the 1970's, so much as he's transformed it into something fresh and new. In his debut LP titled "The Tragic Truth," he has thrown in a splash of octane and a pinch of punk-rock attitude. Jangly guitars and unforgiving lyrics that cut right to the bone of the Post-Modern American meltdown. "Fast food and some Mobile Homes, Supermodels and Methadone all on loan.." he sneers in raspy repose behind a driving beat that keeps the toes tapping and the heads bopping. It's Midwestern Rock N' Roll, only with a folky behind the wheel, driving it under the influence of some British head trip. Pop sensibility? Absolutely... just don't tell him that. Sure, he's sworn off of all the drugs and alcohol that once constantly fueled his fire as he traveled around the country in a Bluegrass band called The PoDank String Band. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have a bite left in him. He still remembers his Southern Gospel Musical roots, and adheres to their fundamentals just as much as he resents the hypocrisy that came along with growing up in the Baptist Church.

If you haven't seen the live show, get ready. Cody, with his band The Bishops, bring a tooth-rattling yet tight rock n' roll experience. This only comes with the years of hard-earned, on-stage experience that Cody and his Bishops have all bled for on different paths since the turn of the millennia. Since their fates have crossed a year and a half ago, they have shared the stage with such bands as Blind Melon, Leon Russell, Ben Kweller, The Format, Limbeck, The Honorary Title, Steel Train, and Deer and The Headlights. Needless to say, they've earned their keep as a live band and built a solid following in their neck of the woods.

Now all that's left is for you to get the record, go to the show, and get the Cody Clinton and The Bishops experience.
