Rhys Marsh And The Autumn Ghost's debut album, The Fragile State Of Inbetween, is out now on Better Place Recordings. It comes in a beautiful, nature-friendly digipak and it sold out at Platekompaniet on its morning of release.

It is available from:

The album has garnered some rave reviews and Rhys has been interviewed by Adresseavisen, Norway Rock Magazine and NRK, on which he also played a live session.

The first single, Liquorice Kiss, has just been released and it has already been played on BBC Radio in England.

For this organic and lush affair, Rhys has drafted in an incredible amount of musicians to accompany him. Seventeen, in fact, taken from such bands as Jaga Jazzist, Änglagård and Anekdoten.

On the record, which was two years in the making, you'll hear choirs of hushed voices, acoustic guitar, piano, double bass, fretless bass, three drummers, two flutes, trumpet, pedal steel, a string section and Mellotron. Yet, despite the potential for complete wall-of-sound syndrome, there's still an impressive amount of space.

“Richly-orchestrated dramatic pop.”
Adresseavisen

“Melancholic and complex music, filled with unexpected chord progressions, rich layers of Mellotron and emotionally-loaded vocals.”
Norway Rock Magazine

“It may challenge your idea of what progressive music should sound like in 2008.”
Tarkus Magazine

“A beautiful auburn empire.”
DotShop.se

“A collection of delicate and atmospheric songs that sometimes recalls the heartbreaking beauty of the melancholy likes of Nick Drake, Burt Bacharach and David Sylvian.”
Burning Shed

“Inspiring and gorgeous, albeit heartbreaking, classical-countered sophisticated pop. This is a demurring 10 track collection that veers between heartbreak and euphoria, whilst touching base with all the boundaries between.
A dizzying spectacle of spell-woven beauty...”
