To our faithful listeners,

We've decided to formally shutdown thesixtyone.com -- our servers will go offline at midnight, May 1st 2017.

Artist tipping and music purchases will be functional until then, so please spend any remaining credits by month's end.
A final payment will be made to artists following the shutdown.

thesixtyone was our baby for most of our twenties. We're incredibly sorry we weren't able to keep things going in the
right direction.

Thank you for being a part of it.

Hello there,

So we've now been here for about a week and we ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SITE :)
This is so much more fun and personal than other sites.
We even made it to the front page in the Alternative genre today. Hooray!
So thanks everyone for your hearts and comments! :)

Now you can also buy our songs here if you're up to that.
We will add more songs soon!

"A fragile and eerie mixture with elements of Portishead and Mogwai, flirting with classical music."

Hatched in a dim lit attic in Reykjavík, Iceland, at the dawn of 2006 Rökkurró..s five founding members began conversing in smooth tones, drawing inspiration from the silky sunrays that crept through the windows.

The result of this covenant was displayed to the public's eager eyes in March that same year and with their captivating atmosphere and ethereal vocals they instantly carved their niche in the already saturated Reykjavík music scene. A self-released 4 track EP hit the streets only 6 months after they had formed and this EP, along with a powerful performance on one of the off-venue shows at Iceland Airwaves 2006, landed them a record deal with local label 12 Tónar.

They released their first album “Það kólnar í kvöld...” (It get..s colder tonight) in November 2007.

Rökkurró present music that is at once soothing and forceful. The folk-tinged reverie of the wailing accordion and carefully plucked guitars sends you off sailing through the clouds while the dramatic cello and clever drumming demand your full attention.

Rökkurró..s debut album was released in German... (+) expand
