The band (originally called “LEON”) was formed by Dave Iles, Dave “Spike” O’Brien, Dan Jack & Nick Saunders in 2000. It wasn’t until James “Boulder” Allder joined in 2001 that the band changed their name to “Drive Like Casey”.
The band wrote & played original music from day 1 and soon became well known in the Bedford & especially the Luton Music scene over the next few years. DLC’s brand of “Electric punk rock” (NME) earned them supports slots with some of the nation’s best up and coming bands at the time including: Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party, Longview, Jetplane Landing, The Ordinary Boys and Towers Of London.
In 2002 DLC recorded their first album “Subject to Schizophrenia”. The whole album was recorded live over a single weekend but just before mixing the digital recording was wiped out (no backup). The band would come back the following weekend to re-record the album but each member agreed that the general feel of the album had been lost.
After this there was a noticeable change in DLC’s sound, moving away from the rock pop songs and heading towards a more serious rock & punk sound with a sprinkle of indie thrown in. DLC would called themselves a
