The name Belladonna originates from its historic use by women in which drops prepared from the plant were used to dilate a woman's pupils, an effect reflected upon as beautiful. It was also believed that witches used a mixture of Belladonna, Opium Poppy and hemlock in a flying concoction allowing them to fly to gatherings with other witches. Flying ointments were actually preparations meant to encourage hallucinatory dreaming to aid in divination.
Belladonna are an alternative 3-piece Punk/Art band from Melbourne which formed in early 2007. Each with experience from previous bands, the members provide an inimitable sound, both poignant and deprecating in essence. Drawing influences from the likes of Rancid, The Clash, My Bloody Valentine, Patti Smith and Sonic Youth, their original songs fuse basic
