To our faithful listeners,

We've decided to formally shutdown thesixtyone.com -- our servers will go offline at midnight, May 1st 2017.

Artist tipping and music purchases will be functional until then, so please spend any remaining credits by month's end.
A final payment will be made to artists following the shutdown.

thesixtyone was our baby for most of our twenties. We're incredibly sorry we weren't able to keep things going in the
right direction.

Thank you for being a part of it.

news
There are not many people who listen to Mojo, and most of them do it here. It makes me really sad to see his T61 profile go away.
Thank you so much for your support ; your hearts, your hilarious comments, the tip = treat thing while he was there with us...
I want to share one last piece before we go : It's called Rhapsody, and unlike the other tracks I've shared here, it's a solo piece by Mojo.
Please see the liner notes below.

Mojo played on his own Yamaha MM6. He fell in love with it years ago, and refused to play on my new synth when the MM6 died ; so I re-bought it for him.
I didn't intervened when he played. He changed the sounds himself (and sometimes started automated fill-in and beats, and stopped them when he had had enough). If you have good ears, you will notice a few repeated patterns. They were his musical signatures.
Contrary to what his profile pictures suggest, he didn't stay sitted on my chair while he played : he climbed on the synth, and used his all four legs, especially the rear ones.
Parts of what you can hear in this track were used in his last album. Here, they are full-length, and unedited.

Lament :
Mojo took part in the February Album Writing Month every year from 2009 to 2016. He loved it.
From times to times, people asked me to send them some of his piano/synth snippets and vocals, to "collaborate" with him.
This is the song Roy Estel came up with in February 2016, and here are the liner notes he posted with it :
«I asked Mojo if they would like to collaborate, and they responded affirmatively with some lovely singing! I listened carefully to the story they told, and did my best to translate it into piano and electronics. I hope the music suits the catsong I have chosen to work in the collaboration.»
As for Mojo, he declared :
«Marrow arrrew mrrehew mrrr, brrr mrfrr maow maaw. Maew miew, marrow mmmfrmhhmhh mrmrr, mbrrr, mgrkrr hhwhhwrr.»

biography
Welcome to the realm of catcore!

Mojo is a cat who loves music. With the help of his human, he has recorded eight albums, where he sings and plays little piano/synth riffs.

Mojo has donated his album "Appetite For Alleviation" to a friend who suffers from chronic illness, to help him collect funds for his fight for health. (Read more about this here.)
All his others songs are available as free downloads.

Update 9/4 2016

It is with great sadness that I write to inform you that Mojo has departed for a better world yesterday, a few days after turning 16.
You may have followed the link above, where it is explained under what circumstances we decided to donate his penultimate album, Appetite For Alleviation, to collect funds for someone who suffers from chronic illness.

Mojo was diagnosed with FIV at the age of 5, and went through difficult times. The musical project that is presented on this page started in these dark years, when I was accompanying him through illness -- after being told that I would probably lose him soon, I strived to give him the be... The music created by Mojo and his slaves has always brought a big smile to my face when it comes on during my work playlist... It's some of the most soothing and gigglesome music I've ever heard, and I am so happy I found it when Mojo was blessing us with his presence.

I am so sorry for the pain you're experiencing through Mojo's loss and physically... Thank you for sharing the songs of your master's people along with your exquisitely stitched musical weaves. They always make my day.

Dear Mojo, what a wonderful journey you've had, how many lives you've lived (authentic artist, survivor and spokesperson for more than one ailment, friendly fundraiser, as well as the adorable collector of cuddles and bird botherer that cats are supposed to be). I am so glad that your last days were pleasant, providing happy memories for us and those oh so close to you. You've brought many happy memories here, you'll always hold a special place.
Much love, Paul

Today is a good day : I'm sunbathing, sleeping in my little wooden house, eating yummy meat and getting lots of cuddles from my humans.
I'm not in the mood for making new songs yet, but I still have a few ones to share with you. Please tell my human to stop being lazy and upload them! =^.^=

Hallo Mojo, I thought you'd taken an extended catnap, perhaps collecting your thoughts before your next brave sounds, but a lil birdie 🐦(!) tells me you haven't been feeling so well. You've been chasing mice for many years now, so it's understandable you're not so spry as you used to be, but I hope with a bit of rest and some TLC you're leaping around again soon :) Lots of hugs! (See below ⬇) And give one to the birdie as well, she's nice!!

Hallo Mojo, thanks for your terrific tunes :3 Just wondering, have you ever tried humm--, err, purring? Perhaps that might make a nice lullabye? I hope that doesn't offend your artistic integrity, Kitty Purry didn't take so kindly to that suggestion, love to hear more from you! <3
