To our faithful listeners,

We've decided to formally shutdown thesixtyone.com -- our servers will go offline at midnight, May 1st 2017.

Artist tipping and music purchases will be functional until then, so please spend any remaining credits by month's end.
A final payment will be made to artists following the shutdown.

thesixtyone was our baby for most of our twenties. We're incredibly sorry we weren't able to keep things going in the
right direction.

2007-2017

Thank you for being a part of it.

Farewell,

biography
Music is where I am so you will find my soul in these tracks.
I'm a Swiss violinist and conductor and do a variety of things: currently I'm an Artist-in-Residence and music curator at the Festspielhaus St.Pölten, Austria, I'm also the principal second violin of the Orchestra Mozart Bologna and a member of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, both founded and directed by Claudio Abbado, two of the world's best orchestras. My passion are innovations in classical music - "alt-classical". New performance formats, new meanings for music. And new music that connects the classical tradition to our life in the 21st century. Another passion is social change, I'm member of the Executive Committee of "Musicians for Human Rights" www.musiciansforhumanrights.org

Check also my band "Matteis Project - Baroque ReImagined" for mellow transbaroque versions of Baroque music, played on electric violin and electric guitar.

And there are a number of clips on my Youtube channel you might like, for example with Russian Rroma (gypsy) musicians Sasha and Vadim Kolpakov:
