biography
Chicago band SHAPERS pressed the "reset" button after previous musical projects had dissolved, and so they indulged in over a year of sonic exploration in a basement piled high with musical toys, resulting in the primarily instrumental soundscapes of their debut LP Little, Big.

Sharpening the finer points of their orchestrations and augmenting some of them with fitful vocals, the nine songs of Little, Big were realized from the atmospheric waves of "When I Was A Zygote," the throbbing, percussive pulses of "Hot Gravy Available," the shredding guitars of "Proboscidean" all the way to the epic fifteen-minute journey of "Mothership Sequins."

SHAPERS began performing live in the fall of 2009, playing alongside Chicago contemporaries such as Reds & Blue, My Gold Mask, and Icy Demons with a standout performance opening up for Atlas Sound at Lincoln Hall during the Schubas/Lincoln Hall annual Tomorrow Never Knows festival. Little, Big was released in March 2010 to positive critical acclaim from the Chicago Tribune, The Onion AV Club, TimeOut Chicago, and the Chicago Reader.
