To our faithful listeners,

We've decided to formally shutdown thesixtyone.com -- our servers will go offline at midnight, May 1st 2017.

Artist tipping and music purchases will be functional until then, so please spend any remaining credits by month's end.
A final payment will be made to artists following the shutdown.

thesixtyone was our baby for most of our twenties. We're incredibly sorry we weren't able to keep things going in the
right direction.

Thank you for being a part of it.

Fractured storytelling with a poetic approach to lyrical content from a very real and experienced perspective is Shawn's approach.

Simple songs. A stripped down confessional. Sparse acoustic guitar, simple arrangements, and subtle vocals telling tales that have the potential to touch many ears. Perhaps yours?

Shawn was born in Chicago, "but we didn't stay long. I was an only child raised by my mom. My father took off when I was born. Mom did whatever she could to put a roof over her kid's head. We moved everywhere. From Wisconsin to California and points between. I've seen a lot of places and met a lot of folks".

It was never easy for Shawn. He grew up poorer than poor with a family looking for a place to call home. "We settled in California, mom found work and we got on with it".

The hard road of rough and tumble had threathened, but never took Shawn's hope away. "I grew up listening to all kinds of music, from country to rock to radio pop, just took it all in. I always knew I wanted to sing, so after years of writing words that found no home, I started writing my own songs. I'm a songwriter and a storyteller. Please, enjoy a story".

Thanks for the Thanks It's always nice, glad to see your still here. You must be like me just procrastinating too much or I see you have some little ones beside you keeping you busy? Love your music.

Welcome to t61. I'm enjoying your music a great deal. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I want to encourage you to hold off uploading additional tracks for a little while (no matter how much we may beg). This will help to keep your own songs from competing with each other for bumps on their way to the homepage.

Some of the best people on this site will also advocate for you to open a listener account, as well, so you can see how the site works from the other side. Plus, you never know what awesome music you might stumble upon. I look forward to seeing you there.

You've touched my ears. I love just about all music, but partial to songs with good words and a story. Bumped them all. Welcome to 61.
