SATURDAY AFTERNOON

Melbourne, Australia

about +
Saturday Afternoon hails from KL, Malaysia with Fariz Salleh on guitar, Melissa Toh on (mostly) vocals, and Dianne Lim on just about everything!

The idea of forming a two piece acoustic band came about sometime in 2008 as Fariz's metal mind met Mel's mellow chilled-out style. When their powers combined, they (Fariz) found that he totally loves acoustic guitar more. ;)

OK, maybe he likes it second to metal now.

Their style of music is mostly acoustic folk, with subtle metal undertones as Fariz tries to incorporate his unique metal-inspired little riffs into even the most mellow of songs. And boy, does it sound good!

Moments of inspiration are derived from instances that touch upon their individual experiences in life.

They enjoy listening to bands such as Dream Theater, Killswitch Engage, As Tall as lions, Kina Grannis, Mae, Rilo Kiley, and John Mayer. To date they have played gigs from The Limelight to Homegrown.

On 17th September 2009, Dianne Lim was welcomed as the third member of the band. Musical genius Di can sing and play everything from keys to violin. Currently, they're hard at work composing songs for their first EP release.
