spending a couple hours in the studio tomorrow evening considering drums. what drum kit(s) to use for tracking which is slated to begin in either late july or early august. i have a sound/tone in my head of what i want the drums to sound like, but i am going in with an open mind, you just never know until you actually start hearing things that you can start to make intelligent decisions.

note to self: do not forget to put drum sticks in back pack tomorrow before heading out for the day.

biography
sky flying by is a safety valve. when the background noise gets overwhelming and everything stops making sense, there's music. a place i get to retreat to, something that makes everything else more OK.

sfb is just one person. me. i generally make other people feel really weird and uncomfortable so i've pretty much given up the idea of being part of a band. i used to, many in fact. i've been a drummer and a guitarist in several bands, but now, and many years since my last band, i have found solo work to be more safe.

i share my music because it makes it more real for me, a sense of purpose and a direction. if someone else likes it, well, that is icing on the cake.

i've started a blog that is an attempt to document this process, and facets that go into why and how i make this stuff. i'm working on making a record, one which i will release myself. primarily because this is what i do, but also no label in their right mind would touch a project like this.

everything is recorded and mixed in my little home studio, and i do my best to get things to sound as good as i can make them. i've been doing this for a long time, but i still h... (+) expand

Haha, jim thanks you for stopping by! Nice tunes, too. Home studios FTW! I'm actually in the process of releasing an album myself right now, so I'm kind of getting to know how the process works -- I just brought that up in case you are ever looking for some tips about it, etc.

I really like your work. It's definately the kind of sound and vibe that i hear in my head on my own, and that i really relax into, so I love listening to it:-) Do you use a computer program, synth board... just curious.
