news
Hey there, thanks for stopping by to check the latest great news. After consuming much Coke and edamame, our latest and greatest 6 song collection named "Lose the Girl" is complete. Soon, "Lose the Girl" will be available in your favorite digital formats, as well as hard copy form. The hardcopy will include an amazing booklet with artwork, pictures, SO3's thoughts and appreciation. You can imagine that these songs wouldn't be what they are without years of "wonderful" experiences. But hey, those experiences paid off and now you get to listen, laugh, and cry as we regale you. The latest mixes have been posted.
Thanks

biography
SO3 was formed in Southern California in early 2007 by purveyors of guitar-driven, blues-infused rock, drawn together by a shared appreciation for ripping guitar solos, deep throbbing bass, melodic hooks, and thrashing (yet tasteful) drum beats. Since then, SO3 has taken its act coast to coast across the US, delighting fans from San Diego to New York City, establishing in its wake a nascent cult following behind wildly innovative lead guitarist Mike Artamonov. At the close of 2007, SO3 crossed the Atlantic for a whirlwind tour through Europe and the UK. Now based in Los Angeles, SO3 is releasing new songs, including the crowd favorite "MIA".

Instrumental jams are often blah-blah, occasionally very good and rarely exceptional . I must say that "Death Throes" is pretty freakin tight and right on for that.

It's a great song so I like both of them. I prefer finished versions though, so I'll take Montezuma. I like that title better too.

I had some ideas along those lines. I'll keep this in mind though! Thanks for the advice.

I know all too well about playing to an empty room. We had about 20 people last night. We are actually a country/classic rock cover band that does our own thing when we feel like writing one, but we started hitting these guys with even modern top 40 country and we counldn't get them on the floor.

We finally figured out that the house band kind of has them brainwashed into thinking that Merl Haggard and George Strait are the only country music players ever, and that's what they came to hear.

Even though we were hired in by the house band (also the owner of the club) because his bass player had an emergency. We had 6 hours to prepare. That's a pain!

Euro tour can get complicated and expensive. We didn't have much money, so we had to get creative. Here are some things that we did to make it successful.

1) Play in cities where you have at least 1 friend, relative, or a friend of a friend. You can usually get some extra info from them about venues. More importantly, you can save a lot of money if they are kind enough to let you crash at their pad :-)

2) Using the friend strategy, you can also bring out a few people to the show, so at least the room won't be completely empty.

3) We didn't hire a professional promoter for this one, but instead networked with the bands on the bill. Making new friends is always nice. We also contacted some online papers and blogs and asked to post our stuff, like http://artshub.co.uk

4) Travel and equipment. I don't think travel expenses can be avoided. However, things are made a bit easier if you have less equipment to lug around. So once again, networking with the bands on your bill helps greatly. We were able to arrange and borrow the drums for every show.

5) Rock people so hard that they will never forget you! Treat every show as your last show. But we do that with every show :-)

So how hard is it to get a Euro tour anyway. I've heard good and bad. Is it all in the PR guy or did you do a lot of it yourself? I don't think we're ready financially, it's a question.

Congrats on level 6! Loved the final version, we're actually still in the studio, we wrote yet another new one that I'm supposed to be vocals on. I'm one of those bass players that can walk and chew gum but can't play and sing... anyway, we don't do any recording that we don't feel like we can do live, so it might be a bit on the new one...

We should have something new together in the next few weeks. thanks for asking!
