Jon Geiger: The homerun hitter with a wiffleball bat…

With dreams of pursuing a music career from an early age, Jon Geiger set out on his own, hitting the New York City streets as a teen, to study with some of the greatest guitarists in music history. Studying with Mike Stern, John Scofield and Emily Remler motivated Jon to make his first recording on cassette and as luck and opportunity would have it, this cassette would be the ticket to a full ride to Berklee College of Music. This was the push that started Jon on his path. Jumping through hoops became the status quo for Jon, as he traversed the country, post Berklee, playing shows to crowds of all sizes. Suffering a terrible accident in 1991, only propelled Jon to work even harder than before. He proved to doctors that thought he would never walk again, that not only would he surpass their expectations, but he would come to run the Motorola Marathon twice, in 1996 and 1997 as well as the New York Marathon in 1997. Experiences like this are what give depth to his songwriting style and make him one of the most personable musicians in the business.

Writing and playing for the last 20 years has allowed for Jon to craft a unique style that has been compared to the likes of Shawn Mullins and Martin Sexton. But, it isn’t only his lyrics and vocals that will get you- he rips it on the guitar and proves that the triple threat exists. Whether playing to a crowd of 50 or 3500, acoustic solo or with a full band, Jon captivates from the first strum. His determination is felt in all aspects of his life and makes for a solid career as songwriter and musician.

Most recently, he has made his way into the hearts of legendary producers, musicians, directors and music supervisors. His unparalleled tenacity is propelling his career to new heights with good news around every corner. He has garnered press from the likes of Music Connection and Hits Magazine and is impacting the Americana music scene in numerous ways. In 2008 alone, he secured 12 straight months of a showcase set at the legendary Whiskey a Go-Go and was named one of Music Connection’s Hot 100 Unsigned Artists. His influences range from Bonnie Raitt to Steve Earle and his passion is purveyed in every lyric and deeply felt every time he strikes his guitar.

Jon is currently in the studio with famed sound engineer Dirk Schubert and is working on laying down a full album for the New Year. Six of the Eleven tracks he is working on have been assembled as an EP and tunes can be previewed at www.jongeiger.com. Put best by the man himself, “I am exploding to do this!” `````````
