The music can be classified as hard rock with and old school soul vibe. It is very reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix with modern day lyrics and tones. The raunchier content of some of the songs appeal to mostly young males, but the women seem to love it just as much. Fans that have seen the show more than once always ask for the Sweet Sweet Laxatives to crap all over them once again…and in a musical sense, they do.
When folks ask how the band’s name was conceived, the guy’s reply is “it was the dumbest, yet memorable band name we could think of while we were drunk.” But the name also represents the humor in their songwriting, the fun party vibe they create, quality songwriting, and the raw sounds of real instruments. As a product of the Los Angeles, California music scene, Tab Thicky created this band called the Sweet Sweet Laxatives to flush out the bad music and usher in the good.
In the beginning, a formula was prepared and tested on many in the LA local bar scene. A Power Trio + Hard rock + Soul + Great songwriting and humorous skits = the Sweet Sweet Laxatives. Aside from Hendrix, other influences on the group are the Chili Peppers, Prince, George Benson, Rick Rubin, Tupac, Tenacious D, Johnny “Guitar” Watson, Lenny Kravitz, and Outkast.
Other band members consist of Fire Pete on the drums, now played by live by Bloodshot Chris, and the Beast Santana on bass. Two men who are also accomplished singer/songwriter performers from San Diego. TL of MSP and Tony of Team Ice also contributed to the making of their first record.
The SSL’s goals as artists are to sell millions of masterpiece albums, tour all over the world year after year, and give back to the community thru charity events.
Finding the right management to help the band gain a larger audience thru heavy radio play, TV, and Film is exactly what the Sweet Sweet Laxatives need to push thru to the next level.
