SUBSCRIBER ALERT!

The sixty-one MEGA Upload Party Wake for Michael Paul Miller is set to go off from 7 to 8 pm Pacific Time on Thursday, May the 8th. With 61+ artists slated, it should average about one new tune per minute, and there will be additional uploads hours later due to late uploads. Check my Wallzine listing of the 61 official artists for your favorite bands, and let your favs know they are welcome to "crash" it and upload then if they didn't get the word in time. Also, feel free to let anyone you tunebox with in on it, as it is open to ALL artists and ALL listeners.
Enjoy the music, as we celebrate for Mike...

just out of curiosity, are your impressions of the point system similar, different, what do you think?

okay, i've got a minute now so let me share some observations on first bumps and the point returns therefrom. in looking at dozens of songs on my charts and for others it seems that the most important factor is the number of individual people bumping on the song. the next most important factor is the total number of bumps. then the number of times you bump the song yourself. the greatest synergy from multi-bumping on your own first bump seems to come when the number of different bumpers is large. still, i don't know how that might relate to level. i suppose if one were to hire a statistician to crunch through 1000s of #s it might be possible to crack the code. short of that. . .

i've looked at it before and i don't know what the correlation for level is. let me describe some numbers i looked at for 2 songs, 1 which had 140 bumps and the other with 106. i looked at the person bumping right before me and right after me. when i did this i looked for songs where all three of people had only bumped once and where all three had different levels. for the first song the person ahead of me was level 14 and earned 12 points, i'm level 11 and earned 11 points, the person after me was level 13 and earned 11 points. for the second song the levels of the bumpers were 14, 11, and 10 and we earned 20, 19, and 17 points respectively.

after going through that kind of analysis on several different songs i had to conclude that the drop off in points at higher levels would have to be more subtle, certainly more subtle than comparisons between people with just 2 or 3 levels separating. at this point i started trying to find songs where there were three in a row with more separation of levels. this is not any easier than it sounds so i finally gave up. i have looked at other aspects of point returns and have a few preliminary observations i'll relate to you at another time.

i've been meaning to comment on the return of the little fellow as your avatar and then i noticed you first bumped a nice new condensator2 song so i thought i'd comment on both at once.

and KosmikRay is right, you are smokin'.

i think i liked your other avatar better. it had a kind of nerdy purity to it. on the other hand, the way your points have taken off, the stealth fighter is probably a good metaphor.

cheers!
