"Edward Perry is a 17 year old solo artist from Southsea, Portsmouth. He goes under the name 'the boy i used to be.' and plays melodic
acoustic lo-fi/pop.
Having only made his live debut in December '08, he recently supported Roses Kings Castles (Adam Ficek of Babyshambles fame), as well as playing at such events as Southsea Fest on the same stage as Sam McCarthy and Alessi's Ark and Southsea Bandstand with Haunted Stereo and Ryan O'Reilly in Portsmouth.
“We really like the boy i used to be.'s music a lot because it feels like the closest idea of what love is like.”

Despite only recently playing within the last year, 'the boy i used to be.' has made waves within Portsmouth and beyond, winning Best Solo Artist at the Portsmouth News Guide Awards and clocking up regular appearances on the 'Me and Perrin, You and Everyone We Know' show on Express Fm with Joel Ransom.
"This young Southsea local recently played on the Long Live Rock And Roll stage at Southsea Fest and it was his angelic aura of ironic despair that caught our attention, not to mention his distinctively melancholic voice.
He is a young man who sings about what all young men sing about, love and love lost, because when all said and done, that's what all great music is about, right? the struggle endured during your teenage years and the encounters we face. Harmonic acoustic teen-indie at its best."
