The Havinga Band is an impressive musical family from Vancouver, BC that consists of Rick Havinga, his wife Susan and their talented sons, guitarist Justin and drummer Josh. In the past few years, the Havingas have performed at numerous gigs in the Fraser Valley and beyond including Mountainfest in Merritt and the last two CAMEO Music Festivals. Members of this talented band were nominated for three awards this year through the Canadian Association for Musical Empowerment and Opportunity (cameocanada.com). Though they are known for their solid performances of classic and modern rock cover tunes, the Havinga Band also managed to snag a nomination for Original Song of the Year. What makes this band so different is the fact that they started at a very young age. Being in their early teens, the boys layed down their tracks for their first recording experience and full cd production. The result was an 11 song cd called 'Knockin on Heaven's Door' consisting of covers and originals with their own trademark sound. This cd features some incredible vocal and instrumental works that would be considered by some as very seasoned accomplishments. They are now working on their second cd release "Girl of My Dreams" which should hopefully be for release late this year or beginning of next year. But while this cd is in the works, they are presently getting air play in the UK, Italy and Canada with their first original 'Not Much Time'. CD sales and digital distribution are starting to pickup overseas and allowing the Havinga's to establish their name as an International Artist. They are presently independent recording artists and unsigned. It even dropped to the bottom of the front page and is now back up in the 9th position. A revive is when someone "brings back" a track that they liked. Look at the songs on the front page and some will say "revived by" I think that the track has to be at least one month past the date that it posted. People bid on the opportunity to revive a song. The bids go pretty high for some songs. If you haven't done so already, create a user account so you can see the game from this end. If you go to the "Browse" section and sort by "revive bids" you will see some of the offers for songs.

The other thing to consider--I wrote this in a song comment already--is that the "harder" rock is often a tough sell on this site. It might not be an exposure thing, but an audience thing. Look how some of your songs did well out of the gate and others didn't. All of them were covers until "The Girl of My Dreams." I think the original "The Girl of My Dreams" is very good and will probably do well here if it isn't kind of buried under all the rest. It might pay to wait until a couple of your songs post to the home page before you upload any more.
