We're off to make a record! well, industry demo, technically. we've been ironing out the details for a while now and it seems as though they're nailed down enough to share some info with you, our friends.

The Host (that's us) will be traveling to sunny California late this March to record with world renowned producers, Dave Jerden and Bryan Calstrom. these guys are the producing team that brought us Janes Addiction, Alice in Chains and many, many more great artists. as you can imagine, we're extremely effin excited.

biography
Since forming in 2006, The Host has become a staple of the Hard Rock scene in Cincinnati, Ohio. What started out as a labor of love for the four-piece has become an outright obsession.

"The need to write and perform outweighs anything else in our lives, and we work hard to ensure that everything we do has a special quality to it," says Host singer, Chris Charlton.

Drawing on a full spectrum of musical influences, The Host's overall sound lies around the edges of bands like Muse, The Mars Volta, and Queens of the Stone Age. Their unique style and unusual songwriting methods offer a more stream-of-conscious feel that stretches beyond the boundaries of modern Alternative Rock. Exotic verses and powerful choruses are supported by a solid framework of hooks that sink in and don't let go. In keeping with their namesake, song themes range from tales of revenge to restlessness to co-dependent relationships.

Following the release of the Dual EP Project; 2007's “Receive” and 2008's “Transmit”, word-of-mouth for The Host has spread rapidly. Intense live shows and radio airplay, (including a variety of internet podcasts), have only fueled their fire. The Host received a nomination for th... (+) expand

Just found you guys for the first time. I like! What are some of your influences. I haven't heard music this good since the first Mars Volta album.

Ah, I forgot the Music Mill. Not a bad venue at all + if you have an under 21 following I think they can accomodate now. themusicmillvenue.com Hope to see you guys in the spring, but why wait? You taking the winter off?

haven't been on this site in awhile and just realized I missed you guys this past summer at the Emerson. That sucks. I hate that venue, but I woulda gone for you guys. I guess its good for the under 21 crowd. I recommend Local's Only (localsonlyindy.com) Not just for locals ha! Also Birdy's Bar and Grill (birdyslive.com) Also consider the Melody Inn. Haven't been there myself, but I would think the regular crowd there would be receptive to your sound. The real holy grail in Indy is the Vogue though. Hands down best venue in town.

Ug, the Emerson. The sound in that place is awful. The last time I was there I saw the Raveonettes and Mooney Suzuki and I couldn't hear for a week after.
