The House Floor is simply a group of friends who live and play music together. The Brooklyn five-piece’s debut LP, Warship, is the epic sonic interpretation of that friendship. What the hell does that even mean? Well, just listening for yourself is ideal, but if we must build ballparks… Song compositions? You can tell we adore Brian Wilson’s Smile. First impressions? Experiencing us live has been likened to being on crack and then finding out that you’re dad is not you’re real dad. While not immediately obvious, this was meant as a compliment. Others have attempted to triangulate our aesthetics somewhere between early 90s Dischord, Animal Collective as a rock band, and afternoons spent drenched in the Crooked Rain. We like to think what we’re doing is tough to pin down for a good reason. It is, above all else, a joy for us to make and perform this music together.
