The Lies And How We Told Them is German-born Erased Tapes initiator Robert Raths’ former alternative pop project. Fleshed out by a three-piece live outfit, the band received high acclaim for their unique live performances. On their extensive UK tour in spring 2007, Raths replaced his head with a functional TV set on stage to give the audience a feeling of acquaintance. The 7-track Mini Album ‘Signpost’ is the very first release of London-based cinematic lovers Erased Tapes Records. Besides building the label, Raths continues his musical outlet under the moniker Ghostworker. Debut single ‘Autark’ out now digitally.
'There's a real "pumping-finger-in-the-air" element to this band ala Arcade Fire and Hope of the States. In this day and age, it's almost impossible to find that comfortable medium of enough pop for uncultured music listeners, while still holding on to some artistic originality' – N/A Reviews (US)
'Whilst hanging precariously off a cliff by a line of thread, The Lies And How We Told Them delicately catch a breeze that carries them away with their emotive pop songs that adopt a tone similar to Engineers, Verve and Buckley'
- 93 Records (UK)
'An up and coming British band. With a sound that echoes Radiohead, Sigur Rós, Jeff Buckley and a bit of Arcade Fire, the band surge with emotional energy. With characteristic vocals and a wonderfully lush production this band will definitely be one to watch in the coming months' – Rough Trade (UK)
