Hola fellow Suspect listeners!
I'll be uploading another song, "Another Day Another Dollar" on Monday around 10am PDT. Seems like an appropriate theme to start the week.

Thanks to you, we're now the #2 Reggae band on t61. Wow! I did not expect such a response when I first uploaded our music. If we ever reach # 1, I'll put everything up for a free download for a while. Also, if any song reaches 700 bumps or gets revived, I'll make it available for free downloads.

Our "Buy From Amazon" links are also working for many songs, and we're getting the others up.

And my final news for today: We'll be playing a show in Houston on 10/16. Details are on our profile page. Hopefully, I'll actually be there...trying to get some work in Houston so I can expense the airfare. It might be Suspects minus keys.... If any of y'all are thinking about coming, let me know and if I'm there come by and say "hello".

peace

First of all, Savior Self is a freaking awesome band name! The music's not half bad either! You've got some cool song ideas in there.

I will say that a good amount of the exposure I have gotten probably has a lot to do with promoting myself in the beginning, as much as I hate advertising myself. I have also been fortunate enough to have other people promoting me without being asked, so luck is probably a factor too. If you look at the Glenn and Rachael T61 profile you will notice that the bumps are significantly lower in most cases. I don't think the songs are much different then the ones on my primary profile either. I haven't promoted the Glenn and Rachael account NEARLY as much, because I was starting to get the reputation for being a spammer, and I realized that it wasn't without merit. I want to share my music with people, but I didn't want to be that guy.

I agree with your assessment on popularity. It's personal taste, but I think my friends in the band Kite should be playing to packed arenas around the world, but they're virtually unknown outside of the local scene. The drummer from the band said one of my favorite quotes on this very subject: "People don't know what they like, they like what they know." Listeners on thesixtyone are an exception to this rule, because they'll actually seek out new music that appeals to them. It's one of the reasons that I love websites like this, and songfight.

I used to desire the 'fame and money' portions of doing music for a living, but somewhere along the way I realized that I do this because I love it, and I LOVE to share my output with people. There was a time when you HAD to have a recording contract if you wanted people to hear your music. That era is thankfully long gone. I may never be able to make money from doing this, but I'll always want to make music as long as I remain capable of doing so.

I'm not always good about getting back to people and answering their messages, so I'm glad to hear that you have had a positive impression of me as far as being cool to my fans. Others might disagree with you for that reason, but I try to do what I can. It has actually started to become more difficult as more people hear about me.

YOU made that 'I am the President of the Sony..." music video? I loved that! Thank you for putting the time and effort into making that!

In closing: Thank you for the compliments, and the support.

ROCK!

Thank you very kindly for the maxbump. 'Handful and a Half' is on pace to get more bumps than 'Prime Time' and 'Not Named' combined, which makes me figure that I might not be as washed up as I thought I was on T61.

ROCK!

Possibly the greatest compliment I have ever received. I'm trying to get in touch with Rachael this morning so I can relay it to her. It was already looking like it was going to be a decent day, but you just improved upon it.

Thank you. :)

another Rails update:

we just posted a new (old) tune on our page, its called "in case of fire" and, though its not one of our newer jams, we still think it's worth a listen. here's hoping it will be on the next Jock Jamz compilation.

Hello listeners! First off, thank you for supporting us--we feel like we've received a very warm welcome to this site. It's wonderful to see such a large group of people care so much about listening and commenting about new music.

Once again, I just wanted to let you all know that we will be uploading a new song. This time it will be at 8PM EASTERN on SUNDAY, JUNE 22ND (hopefully that's a better time for listeners in Europe). This one is called, "What You're After" and it's the song that got us into the top 20 (out of 2000 entrants from 88 different countries) of the BBC's "Next Big Thing" contest last year.

If you want a sneak peak at the song, please just message us back with your email and we'll send all our 44 songs to you straight away for free (gmail and yahoo are the best, but as long as you have a big inbox it's all good).

Much peace and many, many thanks,
Mark & Drew

Poopy I just realized I didn't say what time zone. Hmmm, well, let's just say 3PM EASTERN TIME (it'd be less confusing for me cause we're in North Carolina). If you can't do the math as to what time that would be in your zone, please write me back and I'll hopefully be able to figure it out.

Also, check out http://www.myspace.com/lukeybrandfon - he's the "Luke" in "Luke's Hymn" -- those of you who have myspace accounts too should add him and then tell him to get the f*** over here on sixtyone!

Hey just wanted to give our listeners a chance to bump our new song first. I will upload it at 3pm sharp today and it is called "It's All In Your Head" from our debut album "Chopping Wood & Carrying Water" (which also has Luke's Hymn on it). I use a looping pedal when we play live and try to fill out our two-man sound with it. The only things that are overdubbed are the synths and the vocal samples, which were taken from an old Twilight Zone-like radio show.

If you want our 40+ songs for free, send us a message with your email or email us at kingtutband@gmail.com

http://www.amarodolce.com is where you can purchase our album (21 songs, 1hr17mins)

thanks a lot for your continued support!

here are the lyrics to Luke's Hymn

You can get real far with a little,
but you best not get caught up in the middle,
cause all those things that drag you down
they won't make a sound.

Hey MJ,
I am relatively new myself - been here a little over a month. There really is a TON of great stuff on here - yours included. Depends what you like - I like all kinds of stuff. Feel free to wade through my music pond or a good way is to listen to the radio or rack. I am late running, but I'll try and tunebox ya some stuff later today if I can. Welcome as a listener!

Cheers,
Steve
