The Ralgreens were formed in January 2005 when Anthony Lajoie met Michael Lonergan at a KWLT One Act Play Weekend after party. Originally calling the project "Growing In Numbers", Anthony and Michael recruited Andy Zlak (who would become the Ralgreens full time drummer) to play their first showing at a coffee house, the Battle of the Bards, in June 2005. When Andy wasn't interested in joining the project early on, Anthony and Michael begun the long process of finding both a drummer and second guitarist. Originally calling the project "Growing In Numbers", Anthony and Michael recruited Andy Zlak (who would become the Ralgreens full time drummer) to play their first showing at a coffee house, the Battle of the Bards, in June 2005. When Andy wasn't interested in joining the project early on, Anthony and Michael begun the long process of finding both a drummer and second guitarist. After a slew of both drummers and guitarists in May 2006 they hooked up with Brent Darlington who would take over as the bands lead guitarist, as well as sharing the vocals with Anthony and shortly after Andy accepted the position as full time drummer. The Foursome continued to write and practice until Michael left the group in Sept 2006. Now a trio, the group decided to change its name to reflect the change in the project. After a lot of thought they couldn't decide on anything that fit, until Anthony's father thought up the name "Ralgreens", after the street Anthony lived on, Ralgreen Cress, where the band had been practicing. With a new name and some new idea's the group started practicing more covers, while refining their original material. Now a capable cover band and power trio the Ralgreens played their first public show in October 2007 opening for Revive at the Groove Kitchen and Music Room in Cambridge. Steve joined the group on guitar, keys and back up vocals in the spring of 2008. With over 3 hours of covers and an ever growing set of original material the Ralgreens continue to look forward to their next opportunity to showcase what they've been working at from day one.
