The concept of a death metal project called War Bonnet was first suggested by Chaz (Kill Bot Joy/Puckered Starfish) around 2003 and finally started to come into fruition in the fall of 2007 with the influx of brand new guitarwork by Anthony P.(Earthquirk Studios) who had been on hiatus since 2003's Shitkicker album. During this hiatus Anthony P. had amassed a pile of lyrics too dark to use for his solo work. Experimentation with a new guitar and one nice riff got him back into the groove of writing.
