TheSixtyOne is an online magazine for people who like a straight answer. We write explainers about the things that come up in daily life and in the wider conversation: a new piece of technology, a shift in how businesses operate, a cultural moment worth understanding, or a plain question you never quite got around to looking up. The goal is simple. Read a piece, come away knowing more than you did, and feel that your time was respected.
We are a small editorial team, and we prefer it that way. A short list of people means we can hold a consistent voice and stand behind what we publish.
What we cover
Our range is broad but the intent is narrow: clarity. We publish insights and opinion, along with reporting and background on technology, science, business, lifestyle and travel. Most of our work takes the shape of an explainer, taking a topic that sounds complicated and setting it out in language you can actually use.
Some articles argue a point of view, and when they do we say so. Most simply try to describe how something works and why it matters.
How we work
Every article is written and edited by the team. We use research and editorial software to gather sources, check facts and tighten our drafts, but the thinking, the judgement and the final read are ours. A piece is not published until a human has read it in full and agreed it is fair and accurate.
When a topic changes, we go back and change the article. You will see a date on updated pieces so you can tell how current the information is.
Languages
TheSixtyOne is published in nine languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Swedish, Polish, Dutch, Romanian and Italian. We write in English first. The other eight versions are produced with translation technology and then reviewed for consistency, so that a reader in Warsaw or Stockholm gets the same meaning as a reader working from the original.
Translation is never perfect. If a translated sentence reads oddly or seems to have lost the point, please tell us, and read it against the English version if you can.
Corrections and contact
We get things wrong sometimes, and we would rather know. If you spot an error, an outdated figure or a claim that no longer holds, please reach out using the contact details on our imprint page. We check what you send, correct what needs correcting, and date the update so the change is visible.

What this site is not
We write general-interest articles, not personal advice. Anything you read here on medical, legal or financial topics is background information to help you think, not a substitute for a professional who knows your situation. We also do not claim to be exhaustive. An explainer is a starting point. Where a subject deserves more, we point you toward better and deeper sources, and we keep working on our own pages so they hold up over time.
