San Francisco, CA

about +
Hailing from San Francisco, The Brokenmusicbox founding members Tony Wentzel and Kimberly Contreras released their debut album "waking the sound" in 2008.

Though all of the writing, arranging, and production was done by Tony and Kimberly, the album features contributions from an interesting list of notable friends and musicians:
Drums - Jay Pellicci (31 knots),
Rhodes/Organ- Jason Ruck (Film School),
Bass- Kevin Hite (Idaho Falls),
Piano- Jeff Hashfield (Pleasure Kills, HiNobles),
Lead guitar (Jim Wentzel).

In August 2008, The Brokenmusicbox was chosen as one of 20 finalists from over 900 entries in the Imeem Mutiny & Mayhem contest for a chance to play at the Treasure Island Music Festival.

In August of 2009, photographer Peter Belanger used the song "Time" as the music for a stop motion video he made while shooting the cover of Macworld Magazine. The video has since gone viral with close to 500,000 views.

A month later, they played their very first show as a trio at The Red Vic Cafe in the Haight with singer & multi-instrumentalist Jamie Jackson.

Greg Glass signed on as bass player after seeing their first show, Jeff Hashfield on keys, came back into the mix, and Jenna Kemp on drums to complete the line up.

In April 2010 they played their first show as a 6 piece at El Rio and in February 2011 they played San Francisco's Noise Pop Festival.

Naturally with a complete line up the band went back into the studio to record their upcoming 2nd album "A Life Less Underground" Due for Release 2/1/2012
